Documentary - Berlin and Wrapping Up

Berlin Day One -  Touch Down and the Holocaust Memorial

We landed in Berlin and picked up the car from the rental place, Trine then drove us to the hotel where we checked the equipment for any damages and had a short break to freshen up before we left to go to the Holocaust Memorial.

The Holocaust Memorial was frankly rather underwhelming, the memorial was a lot smaller than I expected and other than one sign at the entrance of the museum there was no mention of the Holocaust, only the "Memorial to the murdered jews of europe"
when we got there straight away we saw people climbing the slabs and taking selfies, however in the process of getting our footage many of the people we unaware of the memorials purpose, thinking it was simply an art piece.

It was a long day and we worked well as a group,  Im impressed that even though we had been up since 3 AM, there was no arguments or bickering and we all worked in a professional manner.

Berlin Day Two -  Shahak Shapira "Yolocaust"

We woke up after a well deserved sleep and had breakfast whilst simultaneously scouting the place we would be filming. This allowed us to decide where to put the cameras before even bringing any equipment down.

The hotel was very gracious in allowing us to film, we brought the equipment down from our room and began our set up, we worked quite well in setting up and was almost complete when Shahak turned up early, this worked in our favour as Kamran was able to converse with him and talk about the kind of questions we would be asking whilst Gavin set up the audio and Me, Trine and George set up the lights and Camera.

The interview went well and Shahak made some very good points which we will likely use in the edit. After Shahak left we De-Rigged and then filmed some of Kamran's PTCs in which George was on camera.

Day Three - Driving and a Break

We had the majority of the day off today as we were only filming the driving scenes with Kamran, this was interesting as it was the first time I really used a go-pro, I also did the Audio as Gavin and George stayed at the hotel to Log and sort the footage.

Day Four - GVs

Today we travelled around Berlin to places such as Checkpoint Charlie, Reichstag, Berlin Wall and the East Side Gallery to film GV's we also got some PTC's with Kamran we had a small scare where we lost some footage however we found it under a different folder, which mandates in the future we keep close control of the folders and file names.

Day Five - Jewish Museum

Today went very smoothly, it was the easiest and quickest set up and de-rig we have done and shows that practice makes perfect. Our interview with Kristoff went well and he gave some interesting points and answers to the questions, I also like the framing we had, we moved the sofa to get a better shot with a bookcase slightly out of focus behind Kristoff hopefully to show the educated side of him better.

After this we had lunch as we were ahead of schedule and left for the airport, we filmed some more shots for the documentary such as kaman walking through the airport and so on and we got through security without a problem, except for Gavin getting a random search which was no problem.

PICK UPS

On Saturday Me, Trine and Gavin went back up to Watford to record some audio from Kamran as the one we had was no longer correct, in hindsight we should have waited until after the edit was complete before doing the Narrators voice over as the nature of the documentary changed as we were given new information.
