Documentary - 3 Cam Set up test

Before we got into the deep end with filming we decided that we wanted to practice doing a multi camera set up, therefore we booked out some equipment and borrowed some test subjects mainly Katie and Jason to sit on the chairs whilst we practised rigging and de-rigging.

Me, George and Trine set up the Cameras, we found that the camera settings were incorrect and set to film at 720p and 50 FPS which is an issue we need to look out for on the filming days.

Gavin set up the sound using my ZOOM Hn4 recorder.
We recorded a few minutes of interview just as a practice.

In total it took about 25 minutes to set everything up but then took 40 minutes to derig, I feel this was mainly due the fact we kept stopping to talk and discuss what needed to be done better.

In all the practice helped a lot, we found ways to streamline certain aspects and what took longest was framing up the best shot, another issue we found was that using a lens with a narrow depth of field made it harder to keep focus if the subject moved at all and using the ring focus on the lens is tricky as I tended to over shoot the focus point.

A follow focus would come in very handy in a situation such as this however we only had one which is Gavin's and the set up is bulky and time consuming to set up.

Another issue was the lighting, lighting two people with only 3 lights is difficult however i have two small LED lights and Gavin has a Ring Light that attaches to his camera, the only problem is my lights are a different colour temp to the big LEDs however it is not too noticeable.
