We talked today about the graphics we wanted in the programme, firstly we conferred on what we wanted to call our channel, we went through many iterations until we came to "News Grad" we thought this worked well for our channel as it incorporated our channel aim quite well, we want to provide news relevant to students and a student who has graduated from university can be called a Grad for short.
The fact that the channel name was quite short also worked for us, since there are only 8 letters in total 4 per word we are able to use symmetry when displaying the logo/title.
After deciding our name we then started to discuss the themes and graphics of our channel, I gathered some images online to create a mood board, this consisted of what we think would have been good imagery for the channel, we discussed using a graduation cap as the logo and contemplated using a degree roll as well, however we decided to simply go with the cap.
I then sketched some designs and the idea evolved into the two circled designs.
We then talked about what we wanted in terms of graphics, I had the idea of the caps being thrown into the air and falling to reveal the logo.
I was unsure whether or not I would be able to achieve this effect so I tested out my idea in after effects. However the text I had was black and something I didnt take into account was that transparency exports as a black.
I then polished this process and designed a logo and a animation of the logo being revealed. I will also work on a screen wipe simiar to his effect to have in case we want to use transitions.
