HIGHER EDUCATION
Labour believes education should be free, and we will restore this principle. No one should be put off educating themselves for lack of money or through fear of debt. There is a real fear that students are being priced out of university education. Last year saw the steepest fall in university applications for 30 years.
Since the Conservatives came to power, university tuition fees have been trebled to over £9,000 a year, and maintenance grants have been abolished and replaced with loans.

To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Simon Lawrence and I am a second year student at the University of Creative Arts, studying Television Production B.A. (Hons) at Maidstone Television Studios in Kent.
I am currently studying on a TV News Production module and am researching a story about student tuition fees for HE, as we are producing a short package (2 to 2.5 minutes duration) for this module.
To this end, I would like to inquire whether it would be possible to film a short interview with a relevant/local labour representative regarding the Labour Party's policy on Higher Education/University fees. We are due to submit this piece of work by 26th October, therefore we would ideally shoot this within the next three weeks. We are happy to travel to a convenient location within the South East.
I look forward to hearing from you - please could you let me know who I can talk to regarding this at your earliest convenience. I can be contacted at :

Yours faithfully,
